This is a true story. One of our friends told us this story tonight. It's a story about one of her friends' friends.
She had a snake.
It wasn't just any snake.
It was a big, long, constricting type, when straightened out it was over six feet long.
She had this thing for years.
It ate mice or rats every day.
She grew close to this snake.
She trusted this snake.
She let the snake sleep on the end of her bed, curled up in it's coil-like position.
Sleeping.
(Sleeping?)
One day, this snake decided it didn't want to eat what she gave it. It didn't want the mice or rats.
She called her veterinarian. He said that it's probably just not hungry at the time and that it should pass.
Still, the snake wouldn't eat.
One night, instead of being curled up at the bottom of her bed, it slithered beside her and stretched out long and flat next to her. There it slept. (It slept?)
She called her vet again.
He said that he didn't know a whole lot about snakes and that she should contact the zoo.
So she did.
She talked to one of the snake experts at the zoo. She told them all about the snake not eating for days and about it laying out in a straight line next to her instead of sleeping at the end of her bed.
The snake expert saved her life.
He told her to get rid of the snake NOW . . . it was sizing her up . . . seeing if it would be able to swallow her . . . if she would fit inside its belly.
She got rid of the snake.
